The Anchor, Bankend, SE1
The "alehouse in Bankside" where Pepys "took refuge" and watched the Great Fire of 1666 destroy London. The events he witnessed from that vantage point were recorded in his diaries. The essayist, autthor and lexicographer, Dr SamuelJohnson was a regular and frequent visitor as the owners of the brewery were personal friends. A copy of his dictionary is on view in the pub.

Portobello Road Market
Every Saturday, Portobello Road, in the Notting Hill neighborhood of London, comes alive with thousands of people for it's famous street market. It bills itself as "The World's Largest Antiques Market", and is a fun place to explore.
