Let me show you what I do to make my life so much easier when planning and prepping for a sub. First of all, I have a sub tub. This idea isn't new. It isn't mine. I'm sure you have seen it. You…

Sub Binders

Since I will be out tomorrow for a dentist appointment, I figured this would be a good time to post about my sub binder. If there is one organizational thing that I'm proud of, it's my sub binder. Let's face it - subs have a tough enough time as it is without going into a classroom where they don't know the daily procedures and expectations. So I try to make it as easy and painless as possible for my guest teachers. I keep my sub binder on the chalkboard near my desk so it's visible in case…

Teaching With Terhune

To keep the anchor charts that I have been teaching out on display I have added a space in the back of my classroom to display them. I have hot glued clothes pins to the wall so I can easily clip them up and change them out to keep them on display. Since I have started to make more and more anchor charts I had to think of a way to store them. I have used hooks and hangers to hang them up. I also printed out labels to easily find the charts I am looking for.

As with any other aspect of teaching, you need to have a good game plan for helping your replacement get through the day - providing them with everything from class rosters and activities to where to find all the important materials and the daily class schedule. A substitute tub or binder is…
