This is a medieval torturer device known as the Coffin. The offender would be put inside this and locked up and the coffin would be hung from a tree or the city walls. Usually the convict inside would die of thirst, exposure, or hunger. This torturer device is similar to Tilman's iron harness as it was a torture for him to be inside this because it prevented him to be free and to be able to roam around as it was his nature to do so. - Chris
The Fairview Training Center was once known as the "Oregon State Institution for the Feeble-Minded." It was established in 1908 and housed thousands of residents with disabilities for close to a century. Many of the residents were brought to the Center as small children and lived their entire lives in the confines of this prison masking as a hospital.
