improv love
I have yet another pillow to show you. Only this time I did not make it, it was made for me by the amazing Amber (One Shabby Chick) as part of the Pillow Talk Swap. I love everything Amber makes but this pillow must be my all time favorite. It has it all. Improv piecing a la Denyse Schmidt, texty prints, beautifully unexpected pops of magenta, hot pink, and purple - what a genius idea, and this dense straight line quilting that adds so much texture and interest to this pillow. Paper Pieced Kaleidoscope Tutorial
Way back in March, I saw this stunning quilt top on Rita's blog. I was absolutely awestruck and mentally jotted down "paper pieced kaleidoscope quilt" on my to-make list. It's not always about sewing around here. In fact it's rarely about sewing lately. A few weeks ago I was sick in bed all Friday. Not horrible sick, just sick enough that when I tried to do things, all I wanted was to go back to bed. I got the kids off to school and went back to sleep until 11, but after that I was pretty bored. Sitting still drives me nuts! For some reason I decided to watch YouTube videos on making French Macarons. I have always wanted to try making these perfectly…
