1950s Fashion

The 1950s was a very feminine era. The “New Look” styles (rounded shoulders, shapely busts, defined waists & calf length, full skirts) that started in 1947 continued into the 1950s. Petticoats and bullet bras became popular undergarments to pair with the “New Look” styles too. Tailored dresses with peplums & suits with fitted jackets & pencil skirts were also popular looks. Women accented their styles with feminine touches like pearl necklaces, ladylike gloves, & hats.
