I recognize I can't help that I am who I am. I may not be perfect. I may not be for everybody. Alopecia does not care what your race, age or gender is. It can show up to anyone, anywhere and at any time in their life. However, "...it's more likely to affect African Americans than white or Asian Americans." For African Americans with Alopecia Areata and Traction Alopecia, hair loss is mostly due to hair styling practices that dry out our hair. #alopeciaspectrum #ladybehindthewig

From my short research I've found out that this mostly due to certain hair styling practices that Black women use, i.e. frying it, laying it, dying it, braiding it, and a consistent ponytail. ALL of these things can lead us to losing our hair.
