Liberty 100 is a Colt Buntline Special 44-40. engraved by Leonard Francolini in 1986 and used materials that were taken from the Statue of Liberty Restoration Project including copper, steel and wood. Copper was used for the torch flame on the sterling grips, copper skin was used for the case cover plate, steel concrete reinforcing rods for turnscrews and case keys, and wood from the observation deck windows in Her crown were used to make the case. Engraved Colt Government Model - Our GOTD is a very nicely engraved Colt .45 Government pistol that served a helicopter pilot during tours of duty in Vietnam. The gold embellished “Colt” on the side helps identify the maker and on the base of the magazine are the owner’s initials for further identification.  This one’s in our “Artistry in Arms” case for viewing. At the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, VA.

Liberty 100 - a Colt Single Action Army Revolver was engraved in 1983 by Leonard Francolini to commemorate the Statue of Liberty. The timing was no accident and the Collector who commissioned the work managed to acquire genuine Statue of Liberty materials from Goldline, the company that was refurbishing the Statue at the time. Statue copper, steel and wood were incorporated into the gun, case and accessories. This gun was auctioned for $97,750 at the April/May 2005 Rock Island Auction.
