"THE COTTON CASTLE" in Turkey - Pamukkale, Turkey. This is a natural attraction in southwestern Turkey. Snow white terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock that is deposited by water flowing from the hot springs.

The excavations at Sagalassos are now among the largest archaeological projects in the Mediterranean. Sagalassos was a prosperous city for over 1000 years, from early Hellenistic times until it was struck by a devastating earthquake in the 7th century AD when the city was abandoned.
