The Independence Day of Egypt is celebrated every year on July 23 and is a public holiday. It is considered as the National Day of Egypt and coincides with the annual celebration of the Egyptian revolution of 1952. The Egyptian revolution of 1952 was the day when the modern republic of Egypt was declared, and the Egyptian people gained complete freedom both from the British Empire and an inefficient monarchy. It was the end of the period of the Kingdom of Egypt.
