Selimiye Camii, Edirne, Turkey | Architect: Mimar Sinan, the greatest architect during the period of classical ottoman architecture. Mimar Sinan's masterpiece was built from 1568 to 1575 upon the orders of Sultan Selim II. It has 4 minarets and rests on eight pillars. The mosque is famous for its pulpit and tilings. During the Russian invasion of Edirne in 1878, some of the tiles were taken to Russia.
