Embroidered ‘sofra peşkir’ (hand towel, used during meals). From the Konya region, late-Ottoman era, early century.

A cotton ‘uckur’ (waistband/sash) with embroidered ends.  From Bursa or the Marmara region, c. 1900.   Various techniques of ‘two-sided’ embroidery were used (identical on both sides of the fabric), executed in silk (for the coloured parts) and with metal threads and strips (‘tel kırma’) for  the ‘goldwork’.  (Inv.nr. brdw034 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
