Embroidered traditional bridal vest (called ‘sarka’) from the Ínönü district of Eskişehir town. C. 1950-1975. The clothing style goes back to c. 1900, and is part of the cultural inheritance of Muslim emigrants from Macedonia. These vests were still produced in the late 1990s. Embroidery: metallic silver thread in ‘kordon tutturma’ technique (= applied cord); additional decoration of metal sequins, fixed with small glass pearls. The base of the dress are a heavily embroidered vest (called ‘sarka’) + very wide hand-embroidered baggy trousers (called ‘pesent’). The silvery belt is antique (c. 1900).
