Oxford, as one of the world's oldest institutions of higher learning, established now-familiar norms for university logos: name along the border, crowns, and a book with the school motto (in this case, "Dominus Illuminatio Mea", Latin for "The Lord is my Light"). I am accustomed to seeing many of these elements along the spines of books published by Oxford University Press. The OUP symbol does not, however, feature the distinctive belted crest.
