National Animal of Pakistan, Markhor, is a large species of wild goat and one of the most beautiful wild animals that is found in the mountains of north-eastern Afghanistan, northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Jammu and Kashmir. The colloquial name is thought by some to be derived from the Persian word "Mar" meaning snake and "khor" meaning "eater", which is sometimes interpreted to either represent the species' ability to kill snakes
