Woman’s traditional bridal/festive ‘arkalık’ (or ‘zibba’ = waist cloth, generally worn on the backside). Late-Ottoman ‘Rum’ (Anatolian Greek), from Sille (near Konya), ca. 1900. Blue silk, adorned with golden metallic thread embroidery, with ‘telkırma’(folding thin silver slat into the fabric), patch-work, small mica flowers & leaves, and silvery metallic sequins. Edged with golden metallic thread fringes and a large tassel.
