Chowringhee Theatre was built in 1813, It was bought by Prinsep’s friend Dwarkanath Tagore in 1835 for Rs 30,000. It burnt down in 1839. Below, 1836 view of Chowringhee Theatre drawn by William Wood & Interior of the Chowringhee Theatre-by William Prinsep.

In the 1897 earthquake the cathedral suffered damage and was refurbished. In the subsequent massive earthquake of 1934, the cathedral's steeple tower collapsed, the cathedral was reconstructed to a revised design without steeple.

The old Fort William was built in 1700. It was virtually destroyed by Siraj–ud–Daulah during the “Siege of Calcutta” in 1756. Later in 1868, its ruins were completely removed to build the General Post Office (GPO).
