White Pulegoso Glass Fountain Chandelier from Barovier, 1930s
Sophisticated chandelier by ercole barovier. A rare and beautiful chandelier, the lower bowl is hand-opened horizontally ribbed clear etched glass, crowned with a series of 12 large, heavy leaves resembling waves with foam. To create this intriguing effect, the puligoso glass that martinuzzi has just brought into vogue was used. The waves have vertical ribs and are dented on the clean side. The upper level is the fountain-shaped shaft still in puligoso, with a glass twist to recall the jets of water. There is a second stem in twisted glass and a ridged cap in puligoso. All these elements create a perfect play of light. Barovier and toso historians. Almost everyone has some nostalgic memory of Indian desserts and our indigenous candy and the collection aimed to explore textures and colours of the food-scape to design lighting. The Indian Bullseye candy inspired glass forms the focal point of this series. The hand blown glass created with Czech glass blowers mimics the Bullseye mint candy to create a series of customisable fittings.
