Tulip Nebula - I'm pinning this for the picture. The article says we are made of star stuff. That sounds nice and poetic, but it doesn't give you any meaning, unfortunately. Star stuff doesn't care about you.
One of the most difficult and wonderful concepts to get our mind around space is the distances. We have over 100 billion stars in the Milky Way alone. The closest is so far it would take of years to get there on the fastest rocket.
This nebula, imaged by the Hubble Space Telescope on August is about light-years away. Hubble completed its orbit in its year of exploration and discovery, and in doing so took a snapshot of a dazzling region of celestial birth and renewal.
