Picking a Bottle for a Breastfed Baby Refusing a Bottle

Published on May 11, 2022
Is your baby refusing their bottle? This can be extremely stressful for the whole family. Some babies have a hard time going back and forth from the breast to the bottle.
You'll see many bottles on the market now advertising that they look and feel "just like the breast". Some babies do like those bottles (my first baby loved the Comotomo bottles).
But let's take a look at how the breast looks when in your baby's mouth. It becomes compressed and much of the areola will be in your baby's mouth. The nipple reaches deeply in the mouth and rests at the baby's soft palate to stimulate the suck reflex.
      • This is why a NARROW NIPPLE and SLOPED NIPPLE are great options because they more closely mimic what a breast feels like to your baby.
Give these a try and see if that makes a difference in your baby with bottle refusal! Check out Instagram @juneandlily for more helpful tips just like this!
