“ Deutscher Graben an der Westfront,1916 ” Well that's what the title says. The trench is obviously far too shallow to be a German trench on the Western Front (the soldiers are both on their knees!), or even a captured Allied trench. It is far more likely to be a German trench on the much more fluid and ever-changing Eastern front.
