Lisa Ertel sandblasts Dune furniture to highlight underlying patterns of wood growth

German designer Lisa Ertel use a sandblasting technique on wood furniture to emphasise the ridged patterns created by trees& annual rings of growth.

Part of my botanically inspired tile collection, this one reminds me of hyacinth petals and has a lovely linear quality.  Hand made with the finest porcelain clay, it measures approximately 5 square and a few inches deep. I left the surface unglazed, as to achieve that ethereal quality of translucency that only porcelain can give. Each tile has an angled hole in the back that is fit for a small nail for secure hanging, as shown in the last photo.  These tiles look great alone, but work…
