A remarkable wheel was found buried in the Ljubljana Marshes
In 2002, a team of experts, under the guidance of Anton Velušček, was working on an archeological site on the Ljubljana Marshes, not far from the town of Vrhnika.
Ljubljana Marshes Wheel - was found in the Ljubljana Marshes some 20 kilometres south of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, in 2002. Radiocarbon dating, showed that it is approximately 5,150 years old, which makes it the oldest wooden wheel yet discovered.
