An ‘elmalı yazma’ (= headscarf ‘with apple’-design), from Tokat.  Part of the women’s costumes in some Alevi Türkmen villages in the province’s central and western districts.  Purchased in Tokat (town) in 1989.  Cotton, hand-printed according to traditional methods.  The four sides are adorned with ‘iğne oyası’ (Turkish needle lace), combined with small glass beads.
