Privacy or Textured Glass - What's the difference?

When clients would like some privacy in a room with slight visibility, they opt for textured glass. This is glass that has a textured pattern on one side and a smooth surface on the other side. Cutswold or Cotswold glass was selected in our Style # 300 full lite door. Textured glass comes in many varieties. Call us today to discuss the options available.

Can you see any light with Privacy Glass?

We frequently hear from clients we need a door with privacy glass so people can’t look into a room but we still want light to come through, is this possible? Absolutely! Privacy glass can hide the clutter and allow any type of light to filter through. It comes in many options such as sandblast, white laminate, acid-etch to name a few. Our Style # 431S, a shaker door, acid-etch was the privacy glass chosen by this client. Acid-etch provides 95% privacy, is smooth on both sides and easy to clean.

Privacy Glass Options for Doors

Did you know that frosted glass can have a bevelled edge which is clear. Pictured is our Style # 250 in a finger joint pine paint grade wood with bevelled acid-etched glass. The flat part of the glass is frosted while the perimeter is clear with a slight angle to it. It provides partial privacy to a space.

Frosted Glass in Doors adds Privacy & Light

When you would like light to come into a room but at the same time would prefer some privacy your option is to select obscure or frosted glass. Privacy glass describes varieties that use texture to diffuse light and obscure views. In this 2 panel door, acid-etched was selected as a frosted glass option. Acid-etched is fairly smooth on both sides making it easy to clean and provides 98% privacy. The door style is a modified #630FP which can also be made with glass on the top only or all wood.
