Some wood is too beautiful to paint over, especially when it looks like this bench with the ornate areas in the spindles and along the base. I restored the wood of this piece by scraping off the old stain, doing some sanding to smooth it out and then applying a light coat of gel stain to bring out the wood grain and brighten it up without changing the color.
