Close-ups of a traditional bridal costume from the Ínönü district of Eskişehir town. Circa 1990. The clothing style goes back to c. 1900, and is part of the cultural inheritance of Muslim emigrants from Macedonia. The costume was still in use in the late 1990s. The base of the dress are a heavily embroidered vest (called ‘sarka’) + very wide hand-embroidered baggy trousers (called ‘pesent’). The silvery belt is antique (c. 1900).
