APOD: 2020 March 25 - Star Forming Region S106
This is a compact star forming region located 2000 light years away in the constellation Cygnus (The Swan), known as Sh 2-106, or S106 for short.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣A newly-formed star called S106 IR is shrouded in dust at the center of the image, and is responsible for the surrounding gas cloud’s hourglass-like shape and the turbulence visible within. Light from glowing hydrogen is colored blue in this image. Space Pictures, Space Images, Space Photos, Theme Galaxy, Galaxy Art, Galaxy Space, Hubble Space Telescope, Arte Do Sistema Solar

Orion Nebula in Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Sulfur. This image shows the nebula in three colors specifically emitted by hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur gas. The whole Orion Nebula cloud complex, which includes the Horsehead Nebula, will slowly disperse over the next 100,000 years. Cosmos, Nasa Space, Constellations

The beautiful Trifid Nebula is a cosmic study in colorful contrasts. Also known as M20, it lies about 5,000 light-years away toward the nebula rich constellation Sagittarius.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀A star forming region in the plane of our galaxy, the Trifid illustrates three different types of astronomical nebulae; red emission nebulae dominated by light emitted by hydrogen atoms, blue reflection nebulae produced by dust reflecting starlight, and dark nebulae where dense dust clouds appear in silhouette.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hubble Space, Space Science, Science And Nature, Unbelievable Pictures

The Westbrook Nebula — also known as PK166-06, CRL 618 and AFGL 618 — is a protoplanetary nebula.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The strange and irregular bundle of jets and clouds in this curious composite image from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope is the result of a burst of activity late in the life of a star. As its core runs out of nuclear fuel, the star’s unstable outer layers are puffing out a toxic concoction of gases including carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide.⠀⠀⠀⠀ West Brook, Space Race, Across The Universe, Astronomy, Nebula, Irregular, Legacy

Young suns still lie within dusty NGC 7129, some 3,000 light-years away toward the royal constellation Cepheus.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While these stars are at a relatively tender age, only a few million years old, it is likely that our own Sun formed in a similar stellar nursery some five billion years ago.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Most noticeable in the sharp image are the lovely bluish dust clouds that reflect the youthful starlight. Stellar Nursery in Perseus.⁣NGC 1333 is seen in visible light as a reflection nebula, dominated by bluish hues characteristic of starlight reflected by interstellar dust. A mere 1,000 light-years distant toward the heroic constellation Perseus, it lies at the edge of a large, star-forming molecular cloud. This is a region of the Keyhole Nebula in Eta Carinae (NGC3372)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The dark dusty Keyhole Nebula gets its name from its unusual shape. The looping Keyhole, in this featured classic image by the Hubble Space Telescope, is a smaller region inside the larger Carina Nebula.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Dramatic dark dust knots and complex features are sculpted by the winds and radiation of the Carina Nebula‘s many massive and energetic stars.
