@at_home_with_betty on Instagram: "How to measure stair panelling angles - Method 3 ✨ Use a digital angle finder A super simple alternative to using a protractor (see method 1), a digital angle finder takes all of the hard work out of measuring angles. Here are the steps used: • Measure the whole angle and divide it by two, to find your angle for each piece of adjoining trim, i.e. my angle was 130 / 2 = 65 degrees. • If you're using a mitre saw, deduct your answer from 90 to get the corresponding angle on your saw (in my case 90 - 65 = 25 degrees) • If using a hand saw, see my 'Method 2' reel. • Cut both adjoining pieces in opposite directions to get your completed angle 🙌 . . . . . #stairpanelling #mouldings #howtopanel #stairpanellingtutorial #girlswhodiy #duluxegyptiancotton #ea
@at_home_with_betty on Instagram: "How to cut stair panelling angles - Method 2 ✨ The 'No Power Tool' Option I've had a few people ask me if I think it is possible for them to panel their stairs without an electric saw and the answer is yes, absolutely! It will take a little longer and those cuts are probably not going to be perfect, but it's amazing what a bit of wood filler can do! Tips: • Use a sharp pencil when marking out your wood to make it as accurate as possible. If you mark the wood in the wrong place even by a small amount it'll make a noticable difference to the join. • Use the right saw. I've learned the hard way that the right saw makes it so much easier! I used a fine tooth wood saw. • Use clamps to hold the moulding in place while you saw, which will make the cut mor

Melissa Warnock on Instagram: "For the purpose of this video I am referring to a height of anything less than 2.4 metres as a low ceiling, and anything above 2.6 metres as a high ceiling. Traditionally, high ceilings were more common in high-end properties due to its open, luxurious aesthetic. My ceilings are 237cms. According to a study by the University of Minnesota, higher ceilings stimulate creativity, abstract thinking, and freedom. I’m all for that and here is a few tricks I use to give the illusion of more space and tap into psychology in our brains. 1. Painting onto ceiling with wall colour to create an alcove and draw the eye up. 2. Extend cornice onto ceiling and even better if you paint same colour as wall. This one gives me an extra 19cms. 3. Hanging curtains on a ceil

Once we tiled the floors (see my last reel for how I did that), I knew the walls also needed to be elegant and timeless. So I grabbed some trim (13/32-in x 8-ft White Hardwood Unfinished Wood 41 Chair Rail from Lowe’s) and some miter shears. I cut down my trim and glued my boxes together — which you can do whatever size you want — then nailed them to the wall. Caulk all the sides and paint! And if you’re like me — color drench the room! My paint color is Yarn by Magnolia in Satin. Then it came down to the details — new fan/light combo I spray painted champagne bronze, a stick on toilet paper holder, a new handle for the toilet, and some decorations ✨ So much better and such easy updates!! Now she said I’ll spend an hour here instead of 45 minutes 😂 Let’s make this sad toilet room more enjoyable! We decided to add more character by adding wainscoting on a 3:1 ratio. I took the measurements for all the boxes, calculating a 3” gap in between each corner and box. After figuring out the measurements I stopped by @homedepot and bought pre cut 1 3/8 primed Finger Jointed base cap trims, a new sawhorse to hold my mitersaw and went straight to my angle cuts! The first cut piece is crucial because I’ll make this my template in order to save time and cut all my 45 degree cuts perfectly. Then it’s repeat the process a million times! Now it’s time to fix
