Tophane Pavilion or Tophane Kasrı - An edifice commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecit in 1852 as a residence for sultans and dignitaries visiting the cannon foundry and weapons factories in the neighbourhood. It was designed in 1852 by William James Smith who was also responsible for the British Embassy which is now the Consulate.
