An embroidered ‘çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory). From Trakya or the Marmara region, ca. 1925-1950. Two embroidery techniques used: metal thread & ‘tel kırma’ (motives obtained by sticking narrow metallic strips through the fabric and folding them). Both techniques are ‘two-sided’ (the result identical on both sides of the fabric). (Inv.nr. brdw024 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
