Küllüoba - University of New England (UNE) Fig. 2: Road between Complexes I and II This year a deep sounding was begun in squares AD 20 and AD 21. It penetrated almost 5 m from the EB II surface of AD 21 and revealed five different EB II phases, almost reaching EB I.
2007 This year the site produced much evidence of Roman and Byzantine settlement, and there may have been a citadel on top of the mound. Work also continued in the northeast area where deposits of prehistoric date were found in 2006. Soundings were made in an area where there were quantities of chipped stone near a natural water source. Just under the surface were a large number of stones and below them were cores, tools and a sherd of Early Neolithic type, like pottery from Çatalhöyük.
