CUTTING TENONS ON THE BANDSAW
Mortise and tenon joinery is commonly used for tables, chairs, and a variety of other projects. Getting a uniform fit between the tenon and mortise is the key to solid joinery, and the band saw is great for making perfectly fitting tenons.
PATTERN CUTTING ON THE BANDSAW
Pattern cutting is a great way to make many identical parts on the bandsaw. All you need is a rigid pattern and shop-made follower. The follower is simple, consisting of an arm and a base. The arm cantilevers from the base toward the blade. The base should be long enough that it’s easy to clamp to your bandsaw table.

HOW TO CLEAN BAND SAW TIRES
A band saw is one of the more versatile tools in the shop, commonly used for cutting curves, ripping a straight edge on rough lumber, resawing, safe cutting of small parts, and other various tasks. Like any wood cutting tool, a band saw generates a lot of dust and debris in normal operations, and some of this can stick to the band saw tires, creating an accumulation of material on the surface.
EASIER CLAMPING ON A BANDSAW TABLE
It can be tricky to clamp fences and jigs to the top of a cast iron band saw table because the webbing on the underside of the table gets in the way of your clamps. Fear not, George Vondriska teaches you a simple technique to create a flush surface on the bottom of your band saw table that will eliminate this problem.

LOG COOKIES ON YOUR BANDSAW
I recently received a request from a co-worker to supply 30 log slices – about 8″ in diameter and 1-1/2″ thick. Her plan was to use them as a base for candles on the dining tables at her wedding reception. I have to say, the concept went past me until we attended her wedding. The room was dimly lit, but the candle light on the bark edge had a wonderful effect. I’ve also known people to make stool seats and small tables from discs like these.
